Up to 750 new jobs in eastern Slovakia. The Slovak government has approved investment aid for BDR Thermea Košice

Up to 750 new jobs will be created in Vranov nad Topľou in eastern Slovakia. The investment was supported by the Government of the Slovak Republic at its meeting on Wednesday, 30th of October 2024, when it approved investment aid to BDR Thermea Košice, s.r.o. in the total amount of €19,642,901. The company's investment plan concerns the construction of a new plant for the production of heat pumps and stainless-steel tanks, while the eligible costs of the investment will exceed EUR 63 million. In this way, the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic continues to support the reduction of regional disparities and bring jobs to regions with long-term high unemployment.

"Considering the amount of the investment and the number of new jobs created, I consider this investment to be crucial for the Vranov nad Topľou district, which has long been on the list of the least developed districts. I firmly believe that thanks to this investment we will be able to change that. I also consider the area of industrial production, which will be the focus of the new plant, to be essential. With this investment, we are also confirming one of our main priorities, which is to reduce disparities between regions, especially in eastern Slovakia," said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Denisa Saková after the government meeting.

The approved investment aid will be given in the form of grants for tangible and intangible assets worth €13.3 million and in the form of income tax relief worth €6.3 million. BDR Thermea has also committed to incur eligible costs of more than €63 million until 2033 and to create up to 750 new jobs in the Presov region by the end of 2028. The entire production of the new plant will be exported within the European Union.

The beneficiary is part of the BDR Thermea Group, which was established as a foundation in the Netherlands in 1983. It consists of more than 60 companies worldwide. The group has a total turnover of EUR 2.5 billion and employs more than 7,000 people worldwide. The number of employees in Slovakia will be nearly 1,000.
